-We have 3 Clubs in our are here. Claytons, Carrington and Westfield schools. Rotakids is a citizenship program for young people aged 7 to 11. It teaches them to work as a team, support each other and work on local and international projects. Below Naomi Campbell Olympic Gold Medal winner greeting the Rotakids!
Our Club has 7 Rotakids Clubs linked to it. The first 2 are at Carrington Junior School in FWH and Westfield School in BE. We also have 4 Rotakids Clubs in schools in Zambia linked to the Zambia Project.
The most active Zambia Rotakids Club is at Libala Basic School – they are “twinned ” with Carrington and Westfield and their teacher /leader Susan recently visited the UK. All of our Zambian Clubs were set up by Rachel and Josie (both Interactors and only just 18!) who returned to Zambia after finishing sixth form on their own to work in the schools after visiting with The Zambia Project.
In adition to the above we have now just set up a new Club at the Isupilo Primary School in Tanzania through our connections with The Walsers Tanzania Charity and we hope shortly to “twin” the special needs class at Chilenje School in Lusaka with the Bardwell School in Bicester which caters for children with special educational needs.
Our “Little Rotarians” all take their Rotkids membership very seriously and enjoy working together and linking up with members in other countries and working with their “bigger friends” in Interact and Rotaract..
